Three Southern Croatian Destinations Crowned Best in 2025

  • PublishedFebruary 28, 2025

March the 1st, 2025 – Three southern Croatian destinations have been crowned the best to visit in 2025 by the European Best Destinations portal.

Croatia as a country was very recently declared the best country to visit in 2025 by the European Best Destinations portal. That’s the same portal that spotlighted Advent in Zagreb and saw it win the title of Best Christmas Market in Europe for three consecutive years.

Now, the portal is turning its attention to particular destinations within countries, and three southern Croatian destinations have been listed in its “Best places to travel in 2025” article.

dubrovnik and cavtat

Of the southern Croatian destinations, the portal has offered an alluring write-up of both Dubrovnik as Croatia’s southernmost city, and of Cavtat, Croatia’s southernmost town.

“Dubrovnik & the Hidden Luxury of Cavtat – Europe’s Most Exclusive Destination”, begins the portal.

The article starts out referencing how Dubrovnik is one of Europe’s most iconic destinations which “enchants visitors with ancient city walls, crystal-clear waters, and a rich cultural heritage, making it a must-visit for travellers seeking history, beauty, and relaxation.”

It then references the UNESCO protected Old City, how it is made up of a labyrinth of cobblestone streets, baroque buildings, and charming squares.

“Stroll along the famous city walls for breathtaking Adriatic views, explore Lovrijenac Fortress and the Rector’s Palace, or take a short boat ride to the island of Lokrum, a tranquil escape with lush gardens and hidden coves” recommends the portal.

Then the portal comes to Cavtat, a charming and much more quaint escape from the hustle and bustle of summertime Dubrovnik. It states that “for those seeking ultimate exclusivity and luxury, a trip down to Cavtat is essential.

“Awarded the title of Most Exclusive Destination in Europe and home to one of the Best Hotels in Europe, Cavtat offers a more intimate, refined escape away from the crowds,” states the portal, before turning its attention to its charming old waterfront, small marina, and the fact that it’s home to the “Most beautiful bay in Europe.”

croatia’s green island – mljet

Of the three southern Croatian destinations, Mljet was also spotlighted. Known as Croatia’s green island and famed for its staggering beauty, it’s no surprise that this island-cum-national park made the list. European Best Destinations refers to gorgeous Mljet as Croatia’s “green pearl for tranquility, nature and adventure”.

It then goes on to describe its “untouched nature, crystal-clear waters, and peaceful ambience,” before stating that “Mljet is perfect for those seeking relaxation, adventure, and authentic experiences.”

Naturally, the beautiful Veliko and Malo Jezero (saltwater lakes surrounded by lush forests) are mentioned, as are the beaches. Mljet offers its visitors the chance to truly connect with nature, and is great for those who appreciate sustainability.
