February the 17th, 2025 – The recent Croatian boycott against the retail sector bore fruit, and it seems that it is set to expand to telecoms and banks in the coming days.

Croatian prices continue to be sky high for no apparent reason, and the country remains the one with the highest inflation rate in the entire EU. The recent boycotts against the retail sector showed the power of the consumers, with the Tax Administration publishing damning figures for fiscalised receipts issued on the days of those boycotts.

It seems that the Croatian boycott trend is now set to encompass telecoms and banks as the movement continues to gain strength.

As Index vijesti/news writes, The consumer platform Halo, Inspektore/Hello, Inspector recently held a press conference during which it emphasised that the Croatian boycott of bakeries was a great success and that it will continue its activities.

They announced the expansion of their boycott activities because, as they say, consumers have expressed dissatisfaction with the increase in prices for bank services and telecommunications operators as well as for shops and the like.

On February the 20th, “5 Minutes of Warning Silence” will take place in front of the Croatian National Bank in Zagreb in order to send a clear message to the banks.

“On Thursday, February the 20th, in front of the Croatian National Bank in Zagreb, consumers will be invited to come and express their dissatisfaction with everything that is happening on the market. We’re inviting them to come with brochures and catalogues for promotions and discounts, to come before the governor and his associates who invited us to shop during those promotions. We’ll show what it looks like when you’re forced to live from promotion to promotion,” said Josip Kelemen, adviser to the Halo, Inspektore consumer platform.
